Lifestyle Change

by SRV Health on October 16, 2008

About a year ago I decided it was time to make some changes with my workout plan. I wasn’t doing badly, mind you, but I realized that to produce the results I was after required more than a few modifications. It would necessitate a lifestyle change. So, at age 50 I leaped in and I haven’t looked back and I’m a different person because of it.

So many of my patients have asked how I’ve done it that I’ve had to print a handout entitled “How I Did It.” Most are not surprised to learn that there is no magic diet or supplements involved but there definately is a comittment to change and a consistency of adherence to a plan. Maybe you were hoping for something painless and easy. It takes sacrifice, but it’s well worth the improvement it will produce in your quality, and most likely, quantity of life.

For the next few entries I’ve decided to go over my plan with you. It will require at least four installments. We’ll see how it goes. It will probably be one of those things where you might only find one or two items you can use but if it gets you thinking or motivates you to improve your level of health or fitness then it will be worth it. I’ll touch on an eating plan, cardio work, resistance training and flexibility. I’ll present some of the pitfalls and ways to avoid them. I’ll give you some sources for practical information about health and fitness that I often rely on. Many of you may feel you lack the knowledge or motivation to tackle a fitness plan on your own. I can hook you up with someone who can work with you one-on-one if that’s what you need.

If you’re at a point where you’re ready for change- if you want to improve your health, lose weight and bring yourself to a higher level of fitness, then follow along with me. It might inspire you to go through a lifestyle change and that’s when the magic happens.
