A surgery-free way to manage and treat spondyloslisthesis in Livermore

Recently a patient referred someone to my chiropractic office in Livermore who has been diagnosed with a spondylolisthesis.  This is a condition where a vertebra has slipped forward toward the spinal canal which can cause pressure on the spinal cord and pinch delicate nerves.  Sounds painful? It is!  In many cases, if this occurs in the lower back, a person will suffer with lower back pain and pain in the legs which can be as severe as difficulty standing, walking or loss of function of the legs.

Although she has been seen by several medical doctors, orthopedic doctors, physical therapist and even other chiropractors, she decided to meet me because she wanted to attempt to rehabilitate her spine through the combination of chiropractic care, massage therapy and our personal training/rehabilitation facility instead of opting for back surgery.

After examining her, studying her MRI films and taking new X-rays of her lower back we have begun to work on moving the bone back in proper alignment very gently through a drop-table maneuver and have also teamed up with Don (owner of Lifestyle Fitness) who is performing spinal and core strengthening exercises to assist in her improvement three times per week.

It has only been one full week of treatment and exercise and this patient is already reporting improvement in her leg and ability to walk.  These are the type of results we strive to see in chronic back pain cases and severe injuries that seem to have little hope of recovery.  Through a combined effort of gentle and effective chiropractic adjustments, therapy and therapeutic exercises it is patients like the above that have found a place in Livermore that they can count on to assist in recovery so they can live a higher quality of life.
