Cell Phone & Neck Pain

Is your cell phone causing you to have a sore neck?

Today when I went to the Apple Store in Stoneridge Mall in Pleasanton to buy an IPod Touch for my office promotion, I got sidetracked with all the other accessories they have available for the IPhone.  The hot ticket item seemed to be the variety of earphones and blue tooth products that range from 30 dollars to 200 dollars.  It made me think of how the earphones and blue tooth sets can avoid neck problems

The number of people I see trying to multi-task with their phones held tightly between their neck and shoulders while they are carrying groceries out from the car, walking their dogs or folding laundry is countless.  We are no doubt a world of cell phone addicts. Whether it be conference calls, catching up with friends, listening to music or sending emails, the constant use of our cell phones can cause a lot of strain to the neck and shoulder muscles leading to pinched nerves. This in turn can lead to stiffness, arm pain, headaches and even upper back discomfort. As a doctor of chiropractic in Livermore, I can definitely attest to the fact that excessive cell phone use between the neck and shoulders, will cause injuries to the neck muscles and nerves gradually until it can be debilitating.

Using some type of earphone or headset while multi-tasking will not only eliminate the risk of neck pain and injury, but it can also avoid a ticket or penalty while driving!
