Chiropractic-A Philosophy, Art and Science

Did you know that the Chiropractic profession is based on a philosophy, art and science?

Many people are not aware of the basis of Chiropractic and what the profession is all about. For this reason, I thought I’d share a little Chiropractic 101 with the world so that with better understanding, can come improved health and lives.
The first thing to know is that chiropractic has a strong philosophy. The philosophy is based on the premise that the body has some type of intelligence that keeps it alive and functioning. We all as living beings have some type of force or intelligence that separates us from a non-living person. This is what is called the innate intelligence. Many people have different names for this life force, but we all possess it to be able to function and live. This leads us to the Science portion of Chiropractic.
The Science behind this profession is that the nervous system which contains the brain, the spinal cord and the nerves that run throughout the body and supply all the organs, controls the body. The spinal cord is housed in the vertebral column and the spinal nerves exit in between the vertebrae. If a vertebra misaligns and puts any pressure to the nerve or nerves, this will decrease the message from the brain and therefore the innate intelligence to the organ and tissues it supplies. This will cause a decreased functioning body and therefore dis-ease.
The Art of Chiropractic is by way of the practice of giving the chiropractic adjustment to remove nerve impingements. There are several methods of adjustments. Many are named after pioneers in chiropractic such as Gonstead or Palmer. The technique or type of adjustment is the art of this profession and different chiropractors have their preferences of their art but the effect is the same. The effect leads to a drug-free way to improve the functioning of the nervous system and therefore the functioning of all the organs and tissues in the body.
