Tailbone Pain

Do you have pain when you sit?

I remember a time back when I went to Chiropractic college in Los Angeles that I had pain in my tailbone.  This occurred after a night out salsa dancing when my dancing partner swung me around and let go of my hands. This left me on the concrete floor on my bottom embarrassed and in pain.

Several days later, I noticed that sitting in my car, in class or anywhere would cause a sharp-like pain in my bottom that would sometimes shoot upwards.  Fortunately, being in Chiropractic college privileged me to several talented chiropractors who took the time to examine me and diagnose me.  The diagnosis was a subluxated coccyx.  In other words, the tip of my tailbone called the coccyx, was out of alignment (tipped forward toward the anterior pelvis) causing nerves to become impinged.

The solution?  One of the chiropractic professors gently re-aligned the tailboneover the course of a few weeks until the pain disappeared and the problem was solved.  This scenario has presented into my practice in Livermore on several occasions.  Sometimes it is a patient who fell on stairs, fell while playing sports or any other similar incident.  In most of the cases, these patients had attempted taking pain relievers for several months before they attempted Chiropractic.  And in almost every case, the patient received successful treatment that addressed the cause of the pain and corrected the problem.
