Tylenol and Kidney Failure

Popping pain pills can have serious toxic effects on the body

Last Friday at my BNI meeting I decided to answer a question to everyone that Phillip Hunt from Coldwell  Commercial Banker asked me last week.  He was curious about the effects of pain relievers on the body.

I brought in a few studies that I have shared with patients in my office from The Journal of the American Medical Association.  One study examined the effects on liver enzymes in those who took Tylenol on a daily basis which showed that the liver enzymes were increased by three times. This amount of increase was considered a huge risk factor for liver cancer.

Another study I brought was done on women who took Tylenol every day over 11 years which lead to kidney failure.

Taking a pain pill can definitely “numb” the headache or pain for a short period of time, but it does not address the actual CAUSE of the pain.  Not only can pain medications become addictive, but as time progresses the effectiveness decreases causing people to take two pills instead of one and/or switch to something stronger.

One of the goals I have for all of my patients is to get them feeling better by addressing the cause of their pain so that they no longer have to take these toxic and harmful pain relievers.
